Aloha!

It was so refreshing arriving in Kauai from Maui. I really love the weather here. Your condo is so beautiful. I love your decor. You've done a wonderful job. Thank you for all the amenities!!!
We slept with all the windows open. It made is so nice and airy. The grounds are so beautiful with the sounds of the water, trees, birds, and roosters. We have wonderful memories.
Mahalo!!

12/1/03 - 12/8/03

Jack & Dorinda,

This place is really wonderful! We enjoyed opening the curtains every morning to look out into the garden of lusciousness all day long. Eye candy! Note: One of the big resorts on the Kona coast has 3 sided buildings - oceanview, gardenview, swimming pool view. You can only have one! Here it's all in one and it's friendly with ceiling fans.
We thank you for all the hard work you have put into this place.

Jack & Dorinda,

What a beautiful home you have here! This is our second stay to Prince Kuhio - we are planning on coming back again next year. It is a great place to unwind and relax.
We too found the beach at the end of the potholed road. What a beautiful beach!
The turtles were also visible. My husband likes to snorkel. What colorful fish. Again, what a wonderful place on earth you have here!

Oct 16-23, 2003

We are spending our honeymoon here after being married on Maui last week. What a wonderful time we have had. Todd and I have decided that Kauai is our favorite island ever! (for the exception of Bali for Todd).
We have enjoyed almost all the beaches on the island (listed in Ultimate Kauai Guidebook). The beaches on the north end of the island are stunning, but too rough (right now), especially Hideways Beach. Maha'ulepu Beach is beautiful, the dirt road has many bumps and pot holes. We came upon a "natural" couple basking in the sun at Gillins Beach.
As far as restaurants, Mi Casita in Koloa is good, filling... too filling for us. Pizetta was OK, service was horrible. Naniwa at Sheraton for Sushi was good. Service and ambience was poor. Very expensive Pattaya Thai in the Poipu Shopping Village was not bad. Our favorite is the Beach House across the street. Make reservations.
We have had a wonderful time relaxing and spending time together here. Thank you.

P.S. Jack & Dorinda, we have left chocolates for you in the ref. as I know you arrive the same day as we leave :-)

P.P.S
Oh! For everyone who travels to see the Waimea Canyon and has the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook. The book says to proceed past Kalalau lookout and proceed to Pu'uo Kila Lookout. Don't, the walk is about 1 mile each way and the view is better from mile marker 18.

Oct. 4 - Oct. 11, 2003

Jack & Dorinda,

Thank you so much for sharing your condo with us! This was our first visit to Kauai and we enjoyed every minute! The highlights: an awesome sunset cruise to Kepali on the "Blue Dolphin", hiking to Waipoo Falls in the canyon, shave ice at Jo Jo's in Waimea, watching the sunset from lawn chairs at the Marriott, walking the grounds of the Hyatt, hiking from the Hyatt to Gillin's Beach, the unbelievable view of the Hanalei valley from the lookout in Princeville, the one-way bridges at the end of the road on the north side, and the apple turnovers at the Kauai Bakery in the Kukui Grove Shopping Center in Lihue. We already know that we would like to come back and get a little more agressive with our hiking in the canyon and perhaps do at least part of the Kalalau Trail. Thanks again for everything!

Jack & Dorinda,

Mahalo for everything. Your home is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay immensely. We had clear, sunny days at Waimea Canyon and Princeville areas and the views were awesome. Ate lots of places but our fav's were the HanaMa'ulu Tea House and the Pizzetta Rest in Koloa. We snorkled at Lydgate, Poipu and Gillin beaches but best was the Salt Pond. Thanks for a great stay! Your condo has everything and extras besides. The whole complex is kept spotless and we just loved the quiet atmosphere, too. We will long remember this vacation for the dolphins we saw, turtles, and those loveable roosters!
Aloha,

Sept. 15 - 22 / 03

Wow! What a great way to be welcomed to Kauai & your well-appointed condo: an intense rainbow outside the bedroom balcony. The sun and tradewinds were terrific. Poipu Beach was a blast. We explored virtually every road and walked our feet off. Visited old favorite spots and found new ones. Watching six sea-turtles float and play in the nearby cove was a treat we will remember; as will the snoozing monk seal.
The was our first condo experience and we were delightfully pleased. After peeking at a few other units, we think that you have decorated your unit to be welciming, relaxing, and efficient.
We would heartily recommend dining at "Coconuts" in Kapaa. We were saddened to see the decline of the "Camp House Grill"; it had been one of our absolute fav's, but it has mistaken grubby for quaint.
The condo grounds and view were terrific and we would gladly recommend you to others. Farewell from "Chicago" (Bolingbrook IL actually)

Aloha -

Your condo is comfortable, clean and well located. Loved the ice water in the ice box after a long flight. Sunsets and sunrises were lovely. Did all the interesting activities mentioned by previous visitors. Helicopter ride was awsome. Weather was breezy, w/some sprinkles, but still excellent beach time. Aloha Jack & Dorinda -

Your condo was awsome, it was so "homey". This was my first time coming to Kauai, my parents were here a year ago and stayed in the same condo. My favorite part of Kauai was all the green hills and trees. The best part of all of itwas the snorkeling because there are so many cool fish, I love it! We did so many things here, we went hiking and snorkeling mostly. The best place we went hiking (I think) was Waimea Canyon, it wasn't really green where we were hiking but it was still really pretty. I loved it here and I had so much fun. But the best of it all was the shave ice, I think a #1 is awsome! I had a great time here with my parents and I'll never forget it!

Thanks for everything! Condo made our 3rd anniversary so relaxing and affordable. Loved the cooler and beach towels - end of road Poipu beach so beautiful! Eat salad bar and drinks at Brenneke's - Poipu. Yummy food at Bull Shed - Kapaa. Great art galleries all over island. May I suggest a family picture on the fridge? :-) Would be fun. Thanks again!
P.S. Watch the sunrise from bed! :-)

Thank you. We enjoyed our honeymoon and your paradise condo. We didn't do any organized tours and it was great!

Very comfortable condo and great location. We especially enjoyed the pool and garden. The downside was lack of air conditioning. For 8 of our 11 days here, it was very uncomfortable. No trade winds, very muggy. We sometimes went for a ride just to cool down a little.
Some unique stuff - check out the jazz in the bar at the Hyatt. Very good quartet. Lunch at the Kokee Lodge - great barbecue sandwich, nice meadow view and entertaining chickens. JoJo's shave ice is Waimea is the best on the island.

Jack & Dorinda -

Just want to thank you for sharing your "home away from home". We enjoyed every minute of our time here. We appreciated everyone's suggestions on what to see and do. The beach at the end of Poipu road was worth all the dust and every bump in the road. Probably our favorite spot. Mi Casita in Koloa town was great! Smith's Luau and show was excellent. The condo has everything we needed and then some.
Thanks for a great time,

Aloha, Jack & Dorinda,

We very much enjoyed our stay in Kauai and in your condo. We both enjoyed snorkeling in front of the beach house. We made several excellent dinners at the BBQ after trips to the fresh fish markets. In fact, we ate most of our dinners here, enjoying the view from the lanai or the pool.

We also enjoyed our trip to the Botanical Gardens and the Liko Napali Boat tour. We also got to see a monk seal yesterday napping at Poipu Beach. Overall, our trip has been fabulous and we hope to make it back to the island soon. We would not hesitate to recommend your condo to anyone visiting Kauai.

Aloha, Jack & Dorinda -

We love your condo - just as advertised - and the location on this island couldn't be better. The high winds and intermittent clouds & rain were somewhat disappointing as we love to sit on the beach for hours reading and watching the ocean. And Bruce get a cold/flu for two days, so that didn't help. But the suggestions in the book were great - Keoki Paradise & Beach House dinners, Joe's on the Green for reasonable, good breakfasts. Hawaiian Trading Post for awesome jewelry & gifts a must.

A word of caution: take dramamine before a sailing tour as a precaution. We did a 5 1/2 Na Pali Coast snorkeling trip (Blue Dolphin - great crew). Never been seasick in our many trips like this - but this time we both were for about 3 hours at the trip. Very rough waters. Not a memory we'll want to relive!

But Kauai is lovely and the condo so comfortable, those are the memories we will take home with us.

We really enjoyed our stay in #211. Liked it better than our friends accommodations at Kiahuna Plantation and Lihue Marriott.

We especially enjoyed kayaking the Wailua River and our meal at Oki's Diner. Our waitress suggested what we should eat and it was great!

We hope to come back and spend more time sight seeing. This time just didn't want to drive anywhere.

Jack & Dorinda

If you told me this condo was not air conditioned we probably would not have rented it. The fresh airiness of the place lends a charm consistent with a tropical paradise. Hope to return to spend more time vegging out and less on taking in all the sights. Anyone who stays here and wants to end their trip with a night to remember should visit Plantation Garden Restaurant. Wow!!

Your condo has been just right for us. The fresh air on both sides and the sound of the surf are wonderful. We're going to try the East side of the island.

Feb 20-27 2003

Jack & Dorinda,

Your place is very cozy. We enjoyed the convenient location. Activities we enjoyed: Waimea town celebration, drive up to Waimea Canyon. Sunday morning church service at Kauai Christian Fellowship in Lawai, (9am Service), great service and wonderful folks.

Definitely go for the copter ride!!! We chose Island Helicopters, our pilot was an ex pilot from Marin County Calif Sheriff Dept and knew his stuff - Best Luau - Smiths! And the best of all, simply relaxing and watching for whales. :-)

P.S. Oki's in Lihue great local diner! Pancakes!

1/7/03 - 1/14/03

Aloha!

We fled the cold "busyness" of New England to Kauai in order to rest and wake up naturally to the sunrise and rooster cries (instead of the noise of city traffic) and that is exactly what had happened! We beach-combed, snorkeled, ate a lot of ahi and ono and slept! The condo was well furnished, all amenities taken care of and decorated with whenisy. It has been a very comfortable and peaceful place to stay in, especially with the sound of the surf crashing up so nearby. All we did was lay on the beach and swim so our recommendations highlight the most spectacular beaches we went to:

  1. Ke'e Beach. Absolutely breathtaking. It's worth the drive ( approx. 1 hour) ends at Hwy 560 at the edge of the Na Pali Coast. You can swim and snorkel in a calm, protected reef area as 10 ft waves crash into a towering green lush Cliff area a distance away. The sand is beautiful, the beach area very wide and inviting and there are families, couples, painters, coconut pickers (who will slash the tops off and sell the coconut to you to drink the milk) and individuals sitting around taking in the stunning mystical view. Amazing!
  2. Just before the Wailua Golf Course starts, make a right turn onto a road off Hwy 56 and follow it to the end to find a very secluded, white sand beach with warm, clear waters that are good for dipping into but not that safe for snorkeling.
  3. Skip Poipu Beach and head further down Poipu Rd, past the Hyatt Resort until the road becomes a dirt rd and follow it until it's end (always bearing right) when you reach the end there is a clearing where you will see some cars parked and a road that veers left from this parking lot. Take this road for ~1-2 minute drive which will bring you to a spectacular less crowded beach that is great for swimming and snorkeling (the locals are trying to protect it from development).

Those are our picks for beaches. Thank you Dorinda and Jack for this wonderful place. We hope to return again.

Shabeen & Karim
