Prince Kuhio #307 Guest Book - Year 2004
Dec 19-26 '04
We had an awesome time here on Kauai for our Christmas vacation!
We loved it here at PK 307. Great view, great swimming and snorkeling
across the street and the place here is so cute and functional. We did
a lot of surfing, kayaking, and hiking in the beautiful mountains.
We will definitely be back. Thanks for sharing your place with us.

So, we're headed back to the ski slopes of Colorado after an
awesome 10 days of hanging around the beaches of Kauai. It
was our first visit to this island and of course it's become our
favorite. Snorkeling, boogie boarding, hiking - Kauai has all
we enjoy and coming "home" every night to PK 307 was a comfort.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

This location on the island chain is my favorite, your condo was
perfect for my wife and my own needs.

P.S. The snorkeling across the street is a surprise to anyone who
has never been to the tropical ocean.

We had a very nice time here on Kauai. What a wonderful place to spend
our 25th anniversary! Coming from 40 degrees and below in Michigan to
mid to high 80's here was amazing. Very pleased with the condo.
Happy that you have the oscillating fan - made sleeping at night
comfortable.
We enjoyed the roosters in the morning since we were already awake
when they started crowing. Must be because we were stuck somewhere
between Michigan time and Hawaii time (its a 5 hour difference).
Some of our highlights were -
- Waimea Canyon and Polihale State Park on the West Side. Food at
Waimea Brewing Co. was excellent.
- The view of the NaPali Coast on the North Side and the Na'aina Kai
Botanical Gardens were awesome.
- The Luau at the Coconet Beach Resort was fun and food filled - a very
good time.
- Enjoyed a lot of various beaches just watching the waves crashing and
the surfers trying to ride them.
Just spending quality time together on such a beautiful island was nice.
Thank you for the hospitality.

Aloha Everyone!
What a breath-taking island Kauai is! Everything from Waimea Canyon
to exploring secluded beaches was (and is) a vacationers dream!
The tropical variation of flowers & foliage & geologic wonder was
exhilarating. We especially loved the warm clear waters of Moloaa
Bay. The waves of liquid warmth were so pristine you could closely see
the flowing sediment.
Thanks you very much for letting us stay here. The condo was
comfortable and clean. We could do without the roosters early in the
morning. The view off the lanai is beautiful. Thank you also for the
goodies. That was very generous of you.
PS. Kauai Kookies are delicious - took a bunch home.

Kauai is a wonderful island. The condo is in an excellent location.
We found most of the amenities to be accomodating however more
lighting in kitchen would help and also a ceiling fan in kitchen
or put A/C. But all over the condo was very nice. We spent most of
our time with our three grandchildren but did take some trips on our
own.
Thank you for letting us stay in your condo.

A great place and a bargain for the money! Sunsets by the Beach House
were awesome, as was the dinner we ate there. Went snorkeling all over
and finally got to frolic with the turtles right across the street!
Breakfast at the Camp House Grill was something else.
The view of the ocean and the park was very nice and we enjoyed the quiet.
On our 1st trip to Kauai the roosters were quaint, our 2nd time they were
a pain (but not enough to keep us from returning). Overall its been our
best trip yet. Thank you for allowing us to share your home for a week.
We'll miss it!

This was a great place for a comfortable and more affordable
honeymoon, leaving us with some extra funds for fun activities
like a helicopter ride, boat tour, horseback riding, and a nice sunset
dinner at the Beach House. We loved the view of the park and ocean but
we will not miss our rooster friends :-)
Your place is a good location to explore all parts of the island. We
found most of the condo's amenities to be accommodating, however more light
in the cooking area of the kitchen would b e helpful and a teapot would
be nice! I recommend to future guests to use the grill by the pool. If
we make it back to Kauai in the future we would love to stay here again!

We really enjoyed Kauai! It is such a beautiful island. The
snorkeling was great. Saw a lot of fish at Poipu Beach and Ke'e
Beach and right down here by the Beach House. Our highlights were
the helicopter ride and sunset cruise by Blue Dolphin.
The condo was in an excellent location. It's not often that you
can go snorkeling right by the place you're staying. The sunsets
by the Beach House were awesome. The welcome goodies were a nice
touch. I sure wouldn't change too much. We definitely wouldn't
mind coming back in the future.

Kauai was a wonderful experience & PK 307 made it all the more
enjoyable. Great loction - great views - great amenities.
My partner sprained her ankle on Secret Beach - beautiful but
treacherous! So we took it pretty easy, but we did more than
I can share here. Some highlights include: Holo Holo Tour Ni'hau.
Napali Coast was awesome. Snorkeling with monk seals, shark!
More fish than I've ever seen. Kayaking with Outfitters Kauai
very relaxing. We had massages at Princeville Health Club
& Spa - reasonable and beautiful environment not to mention
relaxing massage. The luau at Kilohana was fair.
Suggestions: more powerful ceiling fans. One in the kitchen
area or A/C.

August 7 - August 14th 2004
This was our second trip to Kauai and our first condo stay.
We were pleased with the cleanliness of the condo (we'd been
in a suite on Oahu and then a house on Maui - the suite, of course,
was excellent; the house was ok - but not as clean as we would've
liked. But, the house was air-conditioned! Like other guests
have expressed, we were surprised (and disappointed at first) that
there was no air conditioning in this condo. The first night was
tough - it was very hot, humid, hard to breathe, and thus hard to
sleep (and the fact that I'm almost 5 months pregnant probably
magnified things!). As a result, we went to sears and purchased
a standing oscillating fan - our contribution to the condo - which
helped tremendously.
The kitchen did the trick (thanks Dirk and Linda for leaving some
staples in the fridge - peanut butter / jelly, butter, mayo,
mustard... We've done the same, including leaving some left-over beer
that David didn't drink. It was well-equipped and clean. Note:
the toaster is burned-out on the left side; you can only toast bread
properly by using the right side. And there were no covers for
containers so our quick fix was to buy saran wrap.
There's plenty to do on Kauai. The drives to the canyon and water
falls are always amazing. Of course, the beaches are gorgeous
(the beach chairs in the closet will probably give out soon). We
enjoyed a tour of the NaPali Coast with Catamaran Kahanu - a small
native family-owned operated business (they know the waters well).
SKIP South Pacific at the Radisson - the $140 per couple dinner
theatre was really terrible - from the food to the performance to
the setting (hot ballroom, around round banquet tables, sitting on
hard chairs). It was painful (probably comparable to a high school
production). If you want to support the Hawaiian Association of
Performing Arts, try purchasing tickets and attending but do so
without expecting anything in return (decent food or fun
entertainment). But what can we expect, anyway?
The Hawaii Surf Association was holding their annual surfing competition
across the street when we first arrived. That was fun - some of 12 yr
olds and under looked like they were 10 yrs older!
We'll be back for dinner at the Beach House our last night here. We
enjoyed eating there when we were here 2 yrs. ago. Kauai was great -
we'll be back with the baby. Not sure if we'll stay in this condo again.
Enjoy!!

PS - Thanks for the welcome goodies from Kauai Vacation Rentals -
that was a nice surprise!

Aloha,
We have really enjoyed our stay here. Your condo was very spacious
and nicely equipped. We have visited many beaches - our favorite being
Tunnels Beach with calm waters and great snorkeling. My husbands favorite
was Secret Beach with the rocky shoreline that is easily explored. What
a beautiful view ( I wonder who owns the 2 houses on the cliffs). We
drove as far North as we could and found more beautiful beaches and as
far West as possible. What gorgeous scenery!
The park outside the condos was very peaceful - I guess it was nice having
the rooster wake us up at dawn. We used the gas grill down in the gardens
several times and watched the sunset from the Beach House.
I must admit I was surprised at the lack of air conditioning - it took
several nights to get used to that. One other comment - new pillows
and sheets would be nice.
Our 1st visit to Kauai was great! We hope to come back!

P.S. Our contribution to the kitchen - 6 wine glasses! :-)

Aloha, Jack, Dorinda, and Mark,
This little studio condo was actually more spacious than we
expected. Having been to Kauai and particularly to Poipu,
the location suited us well.
We enjoyed many fine restaurants - Casa D'Amici, Plantation Gardens
(be sure to try the Flourless Chocolate Cake!), the Poipu Broiler,
and of course the Beach House where we had our 25th anniversary
dinner at sunset.
We did get a glimpse of #315 and met Cathy and Curt Funk. We may
have to upgrade on our next visit. But #307 was find for our needs.
I think a Murphy wall bed would be great, perhaps next to the closet
leaving the area by the slider more open for relaxing with the view.
We do like the remodel with the lanai on the living area side. The
only other suggestion would be more light over the kitchen sink.
We had a wonderful vacation and enjoyed this condo.

Chuck & Brigitte's Guide to Kauai:
We didn't come to K to sleep; the rooster was cool! And why bother
with a swimming pool in a place like this?!
Highlights -
The wave (for surfing) at Paccala (sp?); Tunnels for snorkeling
(sea turtles are calm old men doing their job, and not concerned
with you); The Wave Surf shop in Kapaa; Spam rolls at Sueoki
Market in Koloa; poke & skipperk; breakfast on the porch; House
of Saimin in Lihue for a dump where the locals go; Dolphin Cafe
by the stream in Hanalei Bay Village; underwater photos of each
other at Queen's Bath; plumeria, birdsonds; Cemetaries; Waimea
Technology & Visitors Center w/ Macs & free internet; JoJo's
Shave Ice, Sunshine Market (arugula, lettuce, weird green beans,
etc); 91.9 FM w/Grateful Dead show on Sat night; our first 7 days
of constant contact and still being very much in love. So don't
bother looking for any spouting horns - it's back in Glendale, CA.
Disappointments -
Beach House (ok California Cuisine w/high prices); learning that
I can't surf even with a barndoor board pushed into an easy wave;
some slack key show by a copule in Hanalei who talked too much;
transexuals; 25 mph; roofs that cut flesh.

Many thanks for letting us stay in your condo - it was perfect -
would not change a thing. Woke to many sunrises and Roosters
crowing but that didn't matter - your in paradise :-)
Helicopter tour (Air Kauai) was the highlight. The purpose of our
stay was to relax and sleep - we did plenty of both, we are now
on our way up to the North Coast for a couple of nights. We hope
it is as comfortable and clean as Prince Kuhio #307. We will be
back!

We had a lovely time here, celebrating Judy's 60th birthday and our 10th
anniversary of being together. We found Poipu to be very peaceful after
a week in Kona. We had planned to see everything on the island, but we
cancelled a lot of our plans, choosing to just be lazy beach bums here
in town for the last few days. Highlights of our stay were: moseying
down the coast to Waimea and Waimea Canyon (the weather there was great
when it wasn't great here); discovering shave ice; snorkeling across
the street and at Poipu Beach; hearing the ocean at night; the luau
show at Smith's Tropical Paradise (the dinner being just so - so).
Alice was fairly sure she saw a shark while exploring underwater at
Poipu Beach, but since nobody else apparently did as well (and since
she still has all 4 limbs), she must have been hallucinating. Our
only real problem with the condo was lack of A/C, which made the first
few nights of sleep difficult until we got used to sleeping with
just a sheet and the lanai door completely open. And yes - the
fitted sheets don't stay on! Everything here is so lush - it'll
be strange to return to our desert habitat tomorrow.

Hi Mark, Jack & Dorinda:
We are enjoying your home and this beautiful island. We
needed this get away together to see if we could be together
this long. We are a new relationship, we both lost our
spouses to cancer. This lovely island can make us forget the
bad things and make us realize life is for the living.
No complaints. However should you build that extra shelf in
the bathroom, put a hook on the door for robes, buy some fitted
new sheets that stay on we would be delighted. New fridge drain-rack,
salad server, new fry pans, tea pot.
We love it here.

Aloha Jack, Dorinda, and Mark!
Thank you for accommodating us on our stay! We spent 5 days with
my husband's company at the Marriott prior to coming here -
enjoying the short walks out and about the complex. Actually
nice w/o air conditioning this time of year!
Nice space for the two of us - kitchen very user friendly!
My husband did forget to prepare me for no baths! But
adjusted quickly! Could have used a hook or two to grab
towels from right outside of shower and perhaps a small
shelf over toilet for toiletries if we were staying longer.
But very neat and clean. Mahalo!
The island is wonderful! So much to see - so little time!
Saw humpbacks at lighthouse on East Shore. Sea Turtles
across the road and spinner Dolphins and whales from table
on patio at the Beach House - beautiful sunsets! Locals very
friendly!
We got to relax - next time we will bring our 3 wee ones -
will probably need ground level though - know one?
From Katamaran today - Capt Trent - Na Pali Coast Tours -
funny guy. Saw pods and pods of dolphins, whales, sea
turtles - no wind so no sail - but very enjoyable - snorkeling
however was much better across the street here - much more
activity! And another beautiful sunset!
Thank you (mahalo) so very much!
Loved Kauai and your condo was great!

Dear Mark,
Fantastic island - great scenery - great beaches. We
had been island hopping, so rested and took in a lot
of sun! Great drives - loved the lovely beaches at Salt
Pond etc - drove everywhere.
Condo complex was gret. Need a plastic dish pan and plastic
cutting board for kitchen. Coffee Pot maker too many messes -
buy a Wal-Mart special.
Would be nice if TV and entertainment center were on wall
shelves and then have small dresser by front door / closet
area. My husband had a cold, so we opened the couch up -
too crowded with dresser. Drain in shower is too slow.
Saw monk seals and turtles!
All in all great place - we will return!
