Prince Kuhio #211 Guest Book - Year 2004

Mahalo, Jack & Dorinda...
Good thing we waited 'til the very last minutes here in your FABulous
home to write this Thank You! Otherwise we most probably woulda'
written a "KA-WOWEE" Novella...
What a glorious island. Watta' home you guys got *. We simply
MUST return... and spend all our precious hard earned time HERE!
How we loved our Peaberry Green Label coffee (good call! J and D!).
In the AM - across the street with all the surfing - flipper -
waving Honu's. Lunch at the "Brick Oven" (Just up the road): Oh my!
: the garlic butter brushed whole wheat pizza crust: oh my! and the
sauce! I'm a vegetarian so it was truely a pie from heaven! No
Meat in the sauce! Most of our dinners were here. Preparing local
offerings each evening in you swell kitchen was such delicious fun.
The one evening we treated ourselves to dinner "out" we splurged
across the street at the "BH" : WOWEE-ZOWEE - "KA-WOWEE!"
Great food. Great service. Dramatic setting... can ya beat it?!
But now we're off to a pal's in Kona. Thanks again, J and D.
Time: Too Short
Place: too FAB
You guys truely are blessed. Now I know why Carl tried for a
year to book your place!!!

Jack & Dorinda,
Your condo turned out to be exactly what we were looking
for to spend our 4th anniversary. We've had a wonderful
time visiting Kauai, but the weather wasn't always
cooperative. The Air Kauai helicopter tour, visit to Waimea and the
Fern Grotto boat ride were very memorable.
Hopefully we will get another opportunity to return to Kauai
and do those things we didn't get to do on this trip.

Nov 18 - Nov 27, 2004
My wife and I stayed in your condo last year (Oct 4 - Oct 11)
and had such a good time we came right back! We did a lot of
the same things this time as last, but particularly enjoyed
the following: For pizza and very informal dining, check out
the Market Place Deli at the Poipu Marriott. We went mountain
tubing down some old sugar cane irrigation canals with Kauai Backcountry
Adventures in Lihue. Former NBA star Steve Kerr and his family
were included in our group and were wonderful to spend time with.
We went to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf at the Poipu Bay Golf Club
and saw Phil Nickelson shoot 59! You have no idea how good these
guys are until you stand 5 feet behind them as they tee off.
We did the Kuilau Ridge Trail near the Keahua Arboretum off 580
in Wailua. Fantastic views! We look forward to coming back
again. Thanks so much.

Aloha,
Our first visit to Kauai, as we celebrated our 20th anniversary,
without kids!!
I didn't realize we'd have so many different choices to make
(where to eat, swim, golf, etc). It was nice to get the input
from your previous guests, as well as all of the other literature
on the subject.
Some of our favorites included:
o Poipu Village center food (Puka dog, Tropical Burgers & Keokis)
o Wailua Golf Course (great course, great price!)
o Snorkeling (right across the street)
o Shops i Old Koloa Town ( Pohoku T's)
o View at Waimea Canyon lookout (awesome!)
o View from Kilauea Lighthouse
o Hole #7 at Princeville Makai Oceans course
o Poipu Bay Golf (Eagled #15!!)
o Dinner at Beach House (Mahi Mahi & Asian Pacific)
o Lydgate Park (Great walking beach)
Our last days activities were shortened by a steady rainfall,
including flash flooding in the Wailua & Kapa'a area. RaNae's
Horseback riding at EspritdeCorps was enjoyable but very wet.
They had to shorten the ride a little because of the thuder &
lightning!!
Overall a great week, that went by too quickly!! Thanks for sharing
your "home" with us.

This is our 3rd visit to Kauai. 1st two we stayed at the
beautiful CoCo Palms. Would love to see it rebuilt.
However we really enjoyed our stay here. The beautiful
view from the bedroom - mountains, ocean - spectacular.
Before getting here we had to endure "Hurricane Francis"
hitting our neighborhood. No damage. But we were without
power for over 24 hours. Packing for trip to CA & HI in
the dark so we really appreciated staying in your lovely
condo. If we should ever return, we would love staying
here again.

Dear Jack & Dorinda,
We can't say how much we loved your condo! So sad to be leaving
this wonderful island - will be back soon and know where to stay!
Our trip was wonderful - loved the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook - favorite
beach was Secret Beach. Tunnels was awesome for snorkeling. We had
a blast swimming in the pool, chasing the frogs in the pond, BBQing
Ahi (very good from the Koloa Fish Market) and smelling all the
sweet flowers in the garden. We won't miss the roosters though! :-)
Don't want to leave paradise and return to reality, but we'll be
back.
Thanks again for everything because your condo really enhanced our
stay!

Aloha Jack & Dorinda.
We would like to echo the sentiments expressed on the previous
pages - your condo is great! We were blown away when we opened
the door, and what a pleasant right after the long flight from
New Orleans, LA. All the little extras only added to our
delight - the books, movies, fins & boogie board, lawn chairs -
thanks, or mahalo, as we've learned. The view off of the back
balcony (lanai?) - this we enjoyed over and over, unforgetable.
We used a lot of photo film just off the balcony. We were
celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and our first trip to
Hawaii and we couldn't have picked a better island than Kauai
or a better condo to stay at. We definately plan on coming
back, the sooner the better.

Aloha Kack & Dorinda,
What a wonderful vacation we've had here! This was my third trip
to this island, and my 10th overall to Hawaii. This was Basil's
first trip.
We found the condo to be perfect in every way. Sleeping with the
lanai door open, with the breezes blowing in, listening to the surf,
palm frons & birds, was quite enjoyable. Everything we needed was
here.
We went all around the island, including the 17 miles of Na Pali
via sea kayak. I only recommend this to those in great shape. We
were so sore that we needed tune up massages the day after. We
snorkeled at Poipu, which wasn't too good, but saw lots of fish up
at Tunnels Beach. Just be sure to get there erly. I also recommend
going early in the day to waimea Canyon & the two lookouts north of
there. The parking lots are small & the traffic can beheavy. We
went on a clear Sunday morning & saw very few people. Body surfing
by Kiahuna Plantation was great, as was Shiprecks. Just watch out
for Boogie boarders. It can also be rather hot at that beach. The
hike to Hanakapia'i Beach & falls was our overall favorite trip.
The trail to the falls can be a bit invisible at times, so follow
other hikers. The falls was totally awesome, breathtaking, beautiful,
etc. Sit in the stream at the beach after coming back from the falls
since the beach can be dangerous. As before, get there early. We
saw quite a few people heading for this beach in the mid-afternoon.
For fresh fish, Fish Express is the best. Try the hot lunch plates.
We ate at Beach House when we arrived & on our last night. Great but
I think one visit would've been enough. Knard's on the Eastside was
great, too. I think Roy's was our hands-down favorite. Lappert's
is overpriced. For groceries, Star Market at Kukui Grove has the
best overall selection, but we found everything else we needed at
Big Save at & Sueoka's.
Overall this trip was absolutely our favorite, and your condo make
it all possible. Thank you so much for everything! We will definitely
be back to relax and play again.

Dear Jack and Dorinda,
We have had the most wonderful two weeks here in Kauai! This
was our first trip here, but we hope to come back.
Your condo is absolutely wonderful. In fact, the pictures on the
internet don't do it justice. You have done such a great job
making it so comfortable and providing everything we needed. We
had the nicest towels, cooler, and chairs on the beach. THANK YOU!
Your tile floors are so nice - GREAT JOB!! We watched 9 of your
movies, and especially enjoyed Jurassic Park after our helicopter
tour with Inter-Island. They were great! We found out they are the
only company that does search and rescue on the island. That was a
bit comforting! :-)
We ate the best hot dogs ever at Puka Dogs! Everybody should go
there. Their lemonade is GREAT also. Other places we ate were:
Keoki's Paraside - great atmosphere and food. Be sure to go
before it gets dark so you can see all their gorgous plants. Great
sunsets for those who eat at the Beach House. Tidepools and a
walk around the Hyatt - absolutely wonderful. Camp House Grill -
hamburgers were really good. Tropical Burgers - great also.
Wranglers in Waimea was wonderful - one of my favorites.
We visited the Southshore Mission in Koloa. The people were so
friendly. There were many visitors when we went. We went all
over the island. Polihale Beach was breath taking, although
that 5 mile road was really bumpy - 30 minutes to go 5 miles!
We loved snorkeling. Our favorite place was Tunnels, but we
were amazed at how many fish were at Lydgate! We took the Lucky
Lady boat ride up the Napoli Coast. The ride back was like a
roller coaster - GREAT FUN! We saw so many spinner dolphins and
sea turtles.
Waimea Canyon was BEAUTIFUL! We hiken to the waterfalls. It
was worth the hike to stand on the rim of that canyon and view
a small bit of God's awesome creation! If you hike, take water.
We didn't and I would have given $100 for a bottle of water. Ha!
There's no time to mention all we did, but this much needed
vacation was fabulous! Your web site and comments were so
helpful. Anybody coming to Kauai should stay at Prince Kuhio
#211! My husband gave your place a '10' and he does NOT give
out many 10's! I definately agree with him.
Thank you Jack and Dorinda! May God bless you for making it
possible for others to come to Kauai and enjoy a taste of
Paradise. We had a great 30th anniversary vacation!

Thanks for sharing you hoome with us. The complex and unit far
exceeded our expectations. The best part of our entire trip was
waking up to the sun (and roosters) coming up over the range. What
a treat to sleep with the door open and hear the surf and wind
through the palm trees. What a week we have had. A lifetime of
memories!

Aloha Everyone!
We are very happy to be back at our home in Kauai!
This time we accomplished something we wanted to do for a few
years. We replaced the carpet in the condo with tile. It was
a tremendous amount of work but we are very pleased with the way
it came out. We hope you enjoy the new look and feel as much as we do.
We also replaced the table, chairs, and drapes in the bedroom, and
put the hanging lamp in the dining room on a wall mounted dimmer
switch. It is nice to finally be able to dim that light sometimes.
New curtains for the living room window are on order but unfortunately
they will not be ready before we leave so some of you will get to see
them before us.
Now that we are finally finished working, it is so nice to sit
back and enjoy the garden and park and beach. Watching the sunrise
and sunsets and listening to surf rolling in on shore, the birds,
chickens, frogs, and palm fronds rustling in the breeze - it's the
spirit of aloha!
Thanks everyone for sharing our home and sharing your experiences
on the island. You have all been such wonderful guests. We hope
you find you way back soon!

April 23 - 30th 2004
Aloha Jack & Dorinda,
What a wonderful time we had. This was our first trip to the
islands and we came here for our honeymoon. What a paradise!
It was awesome to be able to fall asleep and awake to the sound
of the ocean.
We journeyed to Polihale Beach on the west side, absolutely breathtaking.
Definitely worth the 5 mile bumby road to get there (when you come to
the "big tree" - go left - a little less crowded).
We hiked from Ke'e Beach (great snorkeling) to Hanakapi'a Beach and
then on to the falls. The total hike is 8 miles - 6 hours in all!
The hike from Hanakapi'a beach to the falls is difficult but worth it!
We went to the North Shore twice, once to snorkel at Ke'e Beach and once
to hike. Would definately recommend the Hanalei Gourmet for lunch in
Hanalei and the Kilawea Farmer's Market for fresh sandwiches (near
the Kong Lung store on the road to the lighthouse).
We do recommend catching the sunsets on the lawn of the Beach House,
dinner at the Beach House was terrific. Also, Joe's on the Green for
dinner - great music - only dinner is served from 5:30-8:30pm on
Weds and Thurs. We also got fresh fish from the Fish Express in
Lihue (across from Walmart) and grilled out by the pool!!
We also loved the Blue Dolphin Charter to NaPali. I was a first
time diver and the dive was great as well as the crew! The only
thing we don't recommend is dinner at Brennecke's. The food was
very, very average. Much better to buy fresh fish and grill here!
A very big thank you to Jack & Dorinda. The condo was awesome.
We really felt at home for the week we were here.

Aloha Jack & Dorinda,
I'm back! 4th year in a row. Once in a hotel - Hyatt - a big $$$
No charm. 3 in yours & Dorinda's awesome condo, you guys take care
of everything, very cozy - like a home away from home. Your place
hands down perfect! Really like the new table and chairs on the lanai,
new gas grill by pool nice, still like to BBQ with charcoal. Mahalo
for offering your paradise home for rent, if not for you and Dorinda,
Hotels, NOT! Really needed this trip, lots of stress last year.
Kauai and your condo the perfect Rx! Happy Firefighter (smiley face).
Rained a couple of days, quite windy most days, temp mid to upper
70's, overall very nice, sort of like paradise you know.
Chilled by the pool, snorkeled, pool, saw the island by Harley,
pool, long walks, pool - seems as if this pool thing has become
addictive, oh well its all good. Unfortunately its almost time to
leave, the great thing is I had a great time and I get to start
thinking about next years return, until then Mahalo.

Have about an hour, going to hit the pool one last time. Go figure!

Do snorkel at Poipu Beach
Do go to Anini Beach
Do watch sunsets from the lawn at the Beach House across
the street

truck on Kapaa.
Do have patience withe the roosters!
Our only Don't - Bubba's Burgers in Kapaa.
Beautiful 10 days. Until next time.

To My Friends Jack & Dorinda -
Staying in your Kauai home has been a wonderful break for me. I
was able to completely forget about the trials of RMAD. Surfing (in
Hanalei), snorkeling across the road, boogie boarding at Shipwreck
(ouch), golfing at Princeville and the 9-hole course up the road,
discgolfing on the beach, casually breakfasting here... they did the
trick and I'm much refreshed. I'm indebted to you for your gracious
generosity.
Cheers!

Dear Jack & Dorinda,
This was our 3rd week on the islands. 1 week on Oahu and 1 week
on the Big Island, but this week on Kauai was the best. We are
already planning our return visit for a full month in "06". We
would love to stay again in your lovely home.
We enjoyed the sunsets from the lawn at the Beach House. Even
saw the green flash. On that same wonderful evening there was
a Monk Seal on the beach. Perfect! Enjoyed snorkling - the
fish were beautiful. Had a great dinner cruise to Napali and
saw many whales and dolphins. Went to the Smith Family Luau.
It was very well done. We had dinners at the Beach House, Roys
and Kalaheo. Had a lunch at Poipu Tropical Burgers and Keoki's
Paradise. We had a great time. Thank you for sharing your home.

Dear Jack & Dorinda,
We have been coming to the Hawaiian Islands for about 15 years.
Kauai is our favorite. Have stayed at the Sheraton, Kiahuna
Plantation, and what used to be the Ashton on the property of
the Radison along with a spectacular condo in Princeville. Must
tell you your home, and I mean home, was the most comfortable and
relaxing accommodations. You have certainly taken the time to
thoroughly stock the unit from excessive bath towels to beach
towels, chairs and floats. To cook in the kitchen is a true
pleasure. Thank you for sharing this home with us.
The highlight of our trip was a catemaran trip up the Na Poli
Coast. We went with Lika Kauai Cruises (333-0333) and it was
wonderful.

Dear Dorinda and Jack,
We enjoyed 10 wonderful days here at Prince Kuhio - the weather
was beautiful every day - upper 70's and even the few rain showers
we experienced were short lived and welcomed! The rainbows we saw
from our lanai were incredible - one day we even saw a double one!
Your condo is so nice - just like staying in the home of friends.
Very welcoming with all the special touches. We met a lot of
really nice people around the pool and BBQ area, many who are
here for three months. Since we came here this time mainly to
relax and de-stress, we so appreciated how quiet it is here -
just what we were looking for! The phone rang once all week.
We tried several of the eateries that previous guests enjoyed, but
what we liked the most was eating breakfast every morning on the lanai
after we returned from our sunrise jaunt. We also had a few candelight
dinners on the lanai as well. We found that meal preparation was very
easy here with all the cookware supplied, being able to utilize the BBQ
grill and take advantage of all the fresh fruits and vegetables from
the farmers markets.
We visited many of the beaches here on the south side - even ventured
down the dirt washboard road past the Hyatt - it was very beautiful
and we hope it will never be developed. Again, words can't express
our appreciation.

Aloha Dorinda and Jack!
We enjoyed our short stay at your lovely condo - just wish we
could have stayed here all 7 days instead of just five.
Being the "beach bums" we are, we travelled the entire island
stopping at every beach we didn't have to hike down cliffs to
get to. Our favorite places were Ke'e Beach (great snorkeling)
and Polihale Beach Park (worth the rough road). Another favorite
is Moloa'a Bay (where Gilligan's Island was filmed!).
Each day we would work our way back to Poipu Beach for the sunset.
Go down to Spouting Horn for great photos. All except for one
sunset taken at Ke'e Beach - a must! One of the most awesome
sights on the island. We did do the kayak trip to the hidden
falls which was well worth the effort. Best price is from the
guys at the Shell station in Wailua. They don't include the $40
"Turkey Sandwich" so they can keep the cost down.
Kauai is a beautiful island. We will be back!

Dear Jack & Dorinda,
We had an unbelievably wonderful time on Kauai and in your beautiful
condo. It has everying we needed and wanted. We ate most of our
dinners here and used the BBQ and kitchen to the fullest. Every
morning breakfast was served on the lanai - every evening at the
beach house lawn watching the sunset - saw my first "green flash".
Awesome!
It all ends too quickly. Our memories will be of the best snorkeling
ever right in front of the condo, glass beach near Port Allen,
coconut cream pie at the Camp House Grill, Dukes and the beautiful
Hyatt Hotel. Thanks for a beautiful vacation!

Jack & Dorinda,
We were only here on Kauai for a few short days but your lovely
condo quickly became our home. It is very friendly and pleasantly
decorated. We're celebrating our 25th with stops on three islands
and we will always remember our time here.
We enjoyed driving all over the island; the canyon (with some
off roading!); the bridges of Hanalei and its beautiful misty
valley and we even got to see some of the massive surf - 20 ft
swells!
We had a great time here. Thanks for your hospitality.
