Prince Kuhio #315 Guest Book - Year 2005
Nov 15-26, 2005
We have just concluded our 11 night stay in #315 and will transfer to #307
for 11 more nights. We have enjoyed our stay in #315 finding it to have
everything we needed, especially the washer/dryer. This is our 4th visit
to Kauai and have done most everything at one time or another. Our
present visit plans are to relax, golf, dine and enjoy the beautiful
scenery.
Highlights so far include eating fresh fruits and veggies daily (don't
miss the local farmer's markets), playing lots of golf (sank one from
120 yards), to knowing Tiger, Phil M., Vijay around during Grand Slam
of Golf, sunsets at the Beach House, seeing hump back whales near
Kapaa, thanksgiving dinner at Brenneckes.
The comments from other guests are "right on". There is little we can
add. Thanks Jack & Dorinda, for all your help in arranging our extended
stay.

Our first visit to Kauai and had a wonderful time. We tried to see
it all but enjoyed the Waimea Canyon drive, very beautiful. Best
time on the Blue Dolphin Charters - the view of the island is so
great from the boat.
Great place to eat is Bull Shed at Wailua Bay on the water and best
and largest MiaTies are at Koloa Shopping Center little pizza place -
really great!!
We enjoyed #315 it had every thing we needed and was nice to be able
to walk to the beach. We were in Lihue 2 days and enjoyed the shopping
there - very nice.
Thanks for a great vacation. Hope we will return someday. Now we
head back to reality. Cold and snow!

This was our third visit to Kauai, and still the most beautiful
island. This was a great place to stay and it met all our expectations
and I would recommend it to anyone.
For the adventurous, I would recommend the hike into Hanakapiai
Falls. Leave early (by 10 am) and wear old shores. Best hamburger,
Waimea "Big Foot", best Loco Moco, Ono's in Kapaa. Try "Zipping"
at Princeville Ranch. We had a great sunset cruise on Blue Dolphin
Charters (say hi to Jordon).

Today is my birthday and what a delightful place to celebrate.
Our son, Jeff and his wife Sheri, are also here from Fairbanks, AL.
They are staying at the Sunset Plantation. Last night, we took
beats and all the picnic fixings to the beach next to the Hyatt
(Shipwreck Beach). We built a campfire, watched the sunset,
watched breathlessly as dummies jumped off Shipwreck rock into
the ocean and ate by the moon light. It was wonderful!
The kids have grilled for us almost every evening. We felt welcome
at Prince Kuhio #315. It has a cottage feel. All our neighbors
are very friendly.

Our first visit to Kauai and our first visit to #315. Our third visit to
Hawaii. We have enjoyed this island - very laid back - perfect for relaxation.
We have eaten our way around the island. Highlights have been brunch
at the Princeville Resort on Sunday; Brennecke's Beach Broiler (we are spending
our last night here); Dukes Canoe Club - Kalapaki Beach, if you go here at
lunch time you may see a cruise ship dock in the bay adjacent to
restaurant; Plantation Gardens at the Mariott and Poipu Rd; Waimea Brewing
Co in Waimea - very good pork nachos! The pizza at the Brick Oven in
Kalaheo was very tasty (we had the whole wheat crust brushed with garlic
butter and the brick over "super").
The condo has been great - two bathrooms, washer and dryer - tradewinds
blowing - did not miss A/C. Having access to the beach has been great.
Visit the miniature golf on the 4th floor of parking garage next door.

We have had such a wonderful time on this beautiful island. What a great
honeymoon spot. We loved the beaches and all of the great places to eat.
Beach House and Roy's and Plantation Gardens were our favorites. Shopping
was great too. Also enjoyed a luau at Smith's.
The condo was very comfortable and we relaxed & enjoyed it after our
daily adventures. We hope to come back here again someday.

P.S. Loved Na Pali Coast - Incredible Beauty!
Aug 20-27, 2005
We enjoyed our stay ere in the condo and in Kauai. We particularly enjoyed
Tunnels Beach; the snorkeling there was the best. Our dinner at Roy's
(Poipu Shopping) was exceptional. The Beach House was our second favorite.
Our boat trip along the NaPali Coast was great too.

We've had a wonderful honeymoon here on the beautiful island of Kauai!
The beaches and snorkeling were great. We enjoyed Koloa, Kapaa and Waimea
National Park. Kuhio #315 was terrific, especially the porch and all the
fans. We hope to come back some day.

Kauai is an awesome beautiful site. Took a hike at Waimea Canyon. Wore
flip-flops - had choice wear hiking or tennis shoes. Beautiful views!
Bring water. Went boogie boarding at Shipwreck Beach. Lots of fun.
Ground, once in water, is as hard as concrete. Rode one all the way
in. Later found out many, many people break their necks doing that on
that beach. oops! Did the Hyatt spa. How relaxing was that!! Oh
my goodness!!
Food was great everywhere we ate. No complaints. This condo was
PERFECT! Has everything we needed and wanted. Next time I'll know not
to pack so much! (Sure that will make my husband happy :-)
Thank you so much!

Sad to be leaving this beautiful island. This was our first visit
to Hawaii ... it definitely won't be our last. The condo was
wonderful; all of the creature comforts of home. We have thoroughly
enjoyed our honeymoon. The helicopter tour is an awesome way to see
the island. We recommend Island Helicopters w/Gary as the pilot.
Go to a timeshare sales pitch to save big $ (but don't buy one!!).
Kayak Hanalei was a great trip as well. (808-826-1881). Beautiful
scenery and awesome snorkeling! You'll see giant sea turtles. Tour
with David as your guide (the owner's son). Very informative. Good
local insight. The Hyatt luau (Sunday evening) was pretty cool!
Good show, great food!! For a little local flavor, go to Kipu
Falls (turn on to Kipu Rd off Rt 50 and hike (walk) through an
overgrown field about 3-5 min) and swing from a rope into a pool
at the bottom of a waterfall. Good times!! The hike to Hanakapiai
Beach (2 miles) and falls (2 more miles) on the Kalalau Trail is
very grueling. These are the Jurassic Park falls. It took us 8
hours round trip and it's about an hour and a half drive from the
condo to the end of the road at Ke'e park and beach. Spots on the
trail are dangerous. If you want a challenge and excitement (hanging
from cliff edges) do this hike. The falls are worth it! For a
beautiful sunset, go to the Princeville hotel. Awesome view from
the large open lawn next to the hotel. Keep your fingers crossed that
it doesn't rain there! Joe's on the Green (Poipu Shopping Village
area) has cheap breakfasts Mon - Sat 7-8:30 ($6). Big portions!!
Kalaleo Coffee House has great coffee! Definitely try Puka Dog
(Poipu Shopping Village).
Ono Family Restaurant in Kapaa has great egg breakfasts. Popular
with the locals. Veronica's (flower shop and jewelry) in Kapaa
has nice local made jewelry pieces. Veronica is a really nice
lady with a lot of local insight. Check out the Red Dirt Shirts.
Cool story! Barking Sands Beach and Polihale State Park were
closed! Never got to check out the sunset. Good snorkeling in
front of the Beach House (no turtles!). Snorkel Bob's just down
the road ($8 for gear - 24 hours). Definitely hike the Waimea
Canyon. Gorgeous scenery. Good prices at Wal-Mart in Lihue (off
Rt 50); not a supercenter! Get a shopper's card at Big Save (in
Koloa right up the road) to save a lot of money on groceries.
Brick Oven Pizza (Kalaheo) is really good! And, Pizetta's (Koloa
shopping area) is also good. Medeiros Farms has good chicken
(Kalaheo on Papaline & Rt 50); Kalaheo Coffee House also at Papaline
& Rt 50). Free polynesian show on Tues & Thur at 5:00 pm in Poipu
Shopping Village (amateurs but fun!). Free hula show at the Hyatt
from 7-8 (Tues).
Sunday mass at St. Raphael's (9:30am) was great!! Hope this info is
useful. We absolutely loved the Poipu area. It's a great place for
a home base on this island.

We are winding up our fabulous week here in Kauai. We have really
enjoyed staying in your condo. The kitchen is great to have and
the bedroom lanai is beautiful each morning. We snorkeled many
beaches up North and down here. They were all great!!!
Tonight we saw turtles and many surfers across the street. Our boys
loved the pool and surrounding grounds. One highlight of our trip
was a Zip line Safari to Kipu Ranch which was fabulous!! The staff
amy ariel and Chaz made the day a blast and one we'll never forget. We
tried to explore much of the North side, Waimea Canyon and Wailua Falls.
This island is breathtaking and a wonderful way to spend our 20th anniversary!
We don't want to leave!!!!!

#315 was great - everything you need in a condo, very clean,
comfortable bed, etc. etc. We tried lots of beaches recommended
in this journal and also in the Kauai Guide Book - the North
Shore beaches are beautiful (Tunnels, Kee, etc) but it does
rain more often up there. Salt Pond and Polihale on the
South West are good also. Also Shipwrecks and we spent a lot of
time on this beach just over the road here. Probably the best
beach we found was Anini Beach just this side of Princeville -
great for swimming, snorkeling, etc. Keoki's was good for dinner,
didn't think too much of the Beach House food. And I thought the
restaurant at Wailua not good.
Local mexican does good carry-out tacos etc. Sitting at the
Sheraton bar (outside) alongside the ocean is nice to do, and
food there is o.k.
Hope hyou enjoy your holiday here!!

P.S. Waimea Canyon is well worth a visit.

Aloha #315 Prince Kuhio. My husband and I have been here the last
10 days celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We will take with
us so many wonderful memories of beautiful Kauai. The 10 days have
been so much fun. The condo was "perfect" and had everything we
needed and more. We will return. (Pay no attention to the person
on page 4. That person obviously doesn't appreciate anything!). We
were fascinated with all the little rural towns of Kauai.
We hope the next tenants of #315 have as much fun as we did!

Aloha! We are back after 35 years of marriage, two children,
two dogs and one awesome grandchild. We were here when my husband,
Jeff, had R&R from Vietnam (a horrible war). We met on Oahu. This
time Kauai and next time! Such beauty, friendliness, and did I
say BEAUTY! Each vistage was breathtaking. Recommend:
- open air helicopter ride. Only way to do it.
- snorkeling
- good food / drinks.
- sunsets
We hate to leave paradise - hope we can return. Til next time.
Aloha,
