Prince Kuhio #315 Guest Book - Year 2006
12/18-27/06
Aloha
Enjoying ourselves and our 40th anniversary. This is a
great place and a wonderful location.
Found 2 great beaches yesterday, Polehale and Salt Pond
Park and had shave Ice at JoJo's. We always find something
new on this island after all the years we have been coming.
There will be big changes coming, though with the complex.
Went to a Slack Key concert in Hanalei - absolutely wonderful
and a Christmas Eve concert at the Hyatt, 2000 people! What
a magical place this is!
God bless, Mele Kalimaka!

We have enjoyed our week at your condo very much. We
especially enjoyed the open airiness and lots of light.
Our first visit to Kauai 36 years ago we stayed at Prince
Kuhio when it was a Motel/Hotel, on the first floor. The
location can't be beat. Thanks for having "everything" we
needed.
If we return we will definitely try to stay here again!

Our last day. We had a great time and enjoyed the condo.
It's very comfortable. Cooked a lot on the BBQ.
Took a boat ride, Blue Dolphin Sunset Dinner cruise. Very
nice. Today is biplane ride and a late flight back to
Colorado.
Thanks for the flowers and the new toaster!

Mahalo!
Kauai is breath-taking everywhere you look! The condo and amenities
made us fee right at home. The helicopter flight was awesome.
Don't miss it.
We love the North Shore: Queens Bath, the blue room,
Ke'e Beach, the view of Napali - it's all sooo beautiful.
We hiked out to Ha'ula Beach at Maha'ulepu and had the
beach all to ourselves :-)
Caught quite a few sunrises at Soputing Horn and a few sunsets
at Poipu Beach. We snorkeled at Tunnels and Poipu. Fell in the stream
at Kipu Falls. We had dinner one night at the Beach House. God food,
great views, great company. The fresh ono from the fish market
cooked up well on the grill at the beach (poipu). The few things we didn't
get to do for lack of time will have to wait until we come back!

Mark,
The condo was great everything we needed was here. The view from the lanai
was great. We enjoyed our stay very much and would come back here again.
The Biplane ride was great and so was snorkeling right across the street
by Beach House restaurant. We also saw the Monk Seal everyday we were here.
as well as some green sea turtles.
Brick Oven Pizza was really good as was Brenneckes at Poipu Beach Park.
The food was great and the chocolate lava cake was super.
It was nice to meet you Mark and the condo was perfect for us. I hope
to come back again, it has been very relaxing, peaceful, and being able
to hear the surf crashing onto the shore at night is so soothing. Thanks
again!

P.S.
The one goldfish you have here is huge, have never seen one so big.

This is our 2nd time visiting #315 and it once again didn't
disappoint. Our highlight this trip was Fly Kauai's Tropical Biplane.
A year from now you'll forget what you ate at Roy's or the Beach House
so if you're on a budget, spend your $ on this fantastic open cockpit
ride over and around the island - you'll never forget it! Great
snorkeling at Poipu Beach and beautiful sunsets in front of the
Beach House restaurant.
We took Holo Holo's Sunset catamaran up the NaPali Coast - last time
(3 years ago) we took Dolphin's Snorkeling cruise. Holo Holo's
Captain and crew were fabulous and the food was good. Comparing each
I think we preferred the Dolphin cruise, onlhy because it was in the
morning so there was less motion sickness.
The Tide Pool restaurant at the Hyatt is still our favorite - the
Hyatt grounds are beautiful as are the grounds at Lihues Mariott
Hotel.
We rode out the 6+ point earthquake centered on the Big Island on
Sunday morning and a few after shocks. Having lived in California
previously, it was no big deal. We were glad to hear no lives were
lost, but sorry to hear of the damage to several stores, homes and
hotels on Hawaii.
The weather was very humid the first few days, followed by beautiful
weather for the remainder of our stay. We are grateful for the BBQ
which we used twice.
So once more, tha you Jack & Dorinda & Mark for sharing your condo
with us (my 84 year old mother joined us this time and loved it).

We have enjoyed our stay at this perfect, peaceful condo. The view
from the lanai and breezes from the doorwall made it a beautiful
morning experience every day.
We are on our honeymoon and this was our first trip to Hawaii. Kauai
was the best way to start. Herea are a few things that we enjoyed:
ATV Adventure at Kipu Ranch. Fun but a bit slow moving. Some
interesting history and awesome views.
Snuba at the beach across the street. What a cool way to experience
the water. Buy an underwater camera from the dive shop and get free
developing!
Waimea Canyon was beautiful and well worth the trip. We took our time
and stopped to enjoy many views.
Dinner at the Beach House was well worth the price! We walked in and
sat at the bar. I wouldn't bother with reservations unless you call
4-5 days in advance. We didn't even need them because I think we had
the best view.
Drive to North Shore to Secret Beach. Amazing waterfalls when you hike
over lava pools and climb to the top so you can get over to experience
beautiful falls that you can stand under.
Having this place to come back to was perfect. We only ate out once
and packed lunches everyday. The amenities here were perfect and
adequate to shop and make breakfast and dinners. It was clean and
we utilized the many unexpected accommodations (cooler, water shoes,
blankets, etc)
Mahalo!

* We also had beach massages at the Marriot in Lihue - well worth the $200.00
and excellent way to pamper ourselves on our first day in paradise. :-)

Condo is wonderful! It has so many helpful things! Here are
some of the awesome things we enjoyed:
Keoki's - they had reasonable prices and amazing frozen maitais -
good atmosphere.
Taqueria Nortenios - Filling, cheap, and short walk/drive.
Shave ice on the mauka side side of highway in Anahola (across
from Whalers).
Mango Mamas in Kiluaea - cheap organic food and yummy smoothies,
friendly too!
Two favorite beaches:
Ke'e Beach - although the parking is a pain, we saw 6 sea turtles
and there is a good swim spot.
Secret Beach - when you come down the trail walk on the beach to the left
and after 300 yards there is a seasonal lagoon. Float on your back
into the cave and look at the rock formations! Keep walking on the
lava rock toward the point and there are 3 lava pools. The last
one is the best to swim in! The other 2 - watch the waves. Great
place to take lunch and spend the day - very few people.
Avoid resort restaurants. Good view but way overpriced. Smiths
Luau was the best!
Thank you for the amazing honeymoon and we hope to be back soon!

What a great unit! This is our second trip to Kauai and 2nd time
at Prince Kuhio. This is definitely one of the top rentals and a great
value! Not a single complaint.
As for the island, we were happy to find it not much changed from
our last visit in '03. Great things to do: Princeville Zip & Dip -
worth every penny - go even if you're afraid of heights - it's
awesome! Gubing is great fun - only about 1 hr. in the tubes but still
very cool! Also loved ATV so in Koloa Town - girls in the store are
cranky but the guides are great. Don't do HeliUSA - they cancelled on
us after a 2 hr. wait - the one at Port Allen airport is fantastic
according to two girls I met who went on that tour. Local tip -
at the Beach House restaurant you can lay out on their lawn!! It's
great soft grass if you're tired of the sand. Lots of sea turtles
at the rocks to the left of the Beach House - if you're brave you
can go out there and snorkel with them! We did - and the turtles
just hang out and look right back at you.
Food: Beach HOuse: overpriced but great view. Pizetta in Koloa Town:
very good but crowded. Crab dip is awesome!! Tomkats: restaurant
is run down and food is marginal at best. Seuko Lunch Counter next
to grocery store isn Koloa Town is yummy! Good local eats. Mariott
Poipu restaurant: great dinner and atmosphere - very good service and food.
Get in all the fun in you can - this is a fantastic island.

Kauai is paradise and I'm so grateful I got a week's worth of it.
This condo was wonderful: every amenity provided, soft beds, and
a fabulous view. We got very yummy and affordable pizza at the Brick
Oven. Snorkeling at Lawai, and hiking at Waimea were really fun -
my favorite part of this trip was diving around - listening to island
reggae - taking in gorgeous views - and enjoying the journey. Thanks
to all the friendly people I've met - helped to make one of my favorite
vacations.

My sister and I were brought here as a gift from our great parents
for our graduations. We had an amazing time. This condo is so
fantastic - clean, airy, roomy, and more than well-equipped. It
was all and more than advertised - we are going to refer this place
all over the mainland. I suggest that families go to the Brick Oven
Pizza on the way to Waimea - - cheap and absolutely fun, family friendly.
I also suggest picking a hike in Waimea and making a day of it. Kate
and I also loved Kapaa town and went on a kayaking excursion - be
ready for the challenge though. Lawai is a great and safe place to
snorkel for newbies... Of all the luaus the Smith's was good, an
experience. I would take the Napali Coast snorkel trip as more than 5
people have told me how they loved it. THey also loved the helicopter
tour - that's my plan for the next Kauai trip. Oh, sugar plantation
tour not worth it!

What an absolutely wonderful time we had here! This was our first time to Kauai and we will be back! Prince Kuhio #315 was perfect. What a wonderful place to come home to and it had everything we needed, even beach chairs.
A must to eat at the Beach House and Keoki's. Around 7:00 there is a Hawaiian guitar player that is terrific! A cheap meal that is great is in Koloa at Sueoka's Snack Shop right next to Sueoka's grocery store. Had a wonderful time on an ATV with Kipu Ranch Adventures. It was beautiful and the guides were great! Great little beach to walk to is the Beach House Beach. It was fun to watch the snorkelers. Also a must Gillian's Beach. Take the dirt road past the Hyatt. It's very secluded and very nice. It's sad to be leaving but we will take back many wonderful memories.

We certainly came at the right time. The weather has been very good to us. This was our first trip to Kauai, and we will surely come back. The condo has had everything that we needed and is very well located. We saw whales, dolphins and turtles. There were lots of fish at Poipu Beach. The five pounds I've gained here can be blamed on the Beach House (Grilled Ahi), Brennecke's Broiler (stuffed artichoke), Plantation Garden (pork tenderloin), Ono Char Burger (oh my God, the best Blue Cheese Burger ever), Keokis Paradise (fish tacos), Lapperts Ice Cream (white chocolate macadamia). Oh well, vacation is for indulgence.
We had only three problems here. No light bulbs, the microwave stopped working and the mosquitos are feasting everywhere.
We have had a wonderful time.
Thanks Jack & Dorinda!

In spite of a week's deluge on the island and accompanying sadness with floods, broken dam, and lost lives, we leave with many lovely memories and some photos in sunshine. Most of all, we felt the spirit of aloha here on this beautiful garden isle. We'll be back!

We really enjoyed PK 315! It had everything we needed. We really liked having the park next to the bedroom - a great view and quiet.
Took a 4-1/2 hour boat trip up the Na Pali coast and got to see dolphins, whales, and turtles. We went with Liko Kauai Cruises and would highly recommend them. They leave from Kekaha, further north, so you have more time to explore. We went almost to Ke'e Beach. Hope to make it back again as soon as possible!

Enjoyed our time here- very relaxing. Used the "Kauai Revealed" book a lot. The Camp House Grill, JoJos Shaved Ice, Wrangler's Steak House all very good. Closer dto home, we enjoyed several meals at Keokis Paradise & loved the Puka
Dogs. The Blue Dolphin Sunset Cruise was WONDERFUL - saw 50+ whales, spinner dolphins & sea turtles. We also went up the Napali Coast absolutely amazing & a great way to finish our vacation.
Thanks -

Great 6 days. We were surprised by the accommodations - It was more than we anticipated. Great location, spacious, and had everything we needed. This is our 3rd time in Kauai so we re-explored things we had enjoyed previously - and enjoyed new adventures. Things not to be missed:
-
go to Princeville Hotel walk thru the "library bar" to a scenic overview deck - best pictures of Bali Hai and all for free.
-
Jo Jos shaves ice in Waimea on your way to Canyon get #1 rainbow!
-
Zelo's Beach House in Hanalei the calamari wedge and fresh fish sandwich excellent and affordable.
-
Best shopping all open air markets have best prices!
-
sunsets on any beach
-
do a whale watch tour if in season. We did Blue Dolphin #129 pp for the Napali Coast tour and saw the beautiful coastline dolphins, whales, turtles and a great lunch. Well worth it. The snorkeling was a disappointment - too many people and too much suntan lotion.
Our time was wonderful & as for the guy who didn't like the curtains stay in Princeville.
