Prince Kuhio #307 Guest Book - Year 2008
Dec 17-31, 2008
Well, the worst part of any vacation has crept up and I must leave
in the morning! From beginning to end, #307 Prince Kuhio has been
everything I needed for my Kauai adventure. I did many of the things
others have mentioned so won't rehash recommendations that have already
been made. Kauai is spectacular and invites exploration. Keep your camera
at the ready! Thanks Jack & dorinda!

Thank you so much for a wonderful place to stay. We stayed here with
our parents. This was their first trip to Hawaii, they loved it. Great
snorkeling. We would love to come back! I would like to suggest a basic
spice rack if possible.
Thanks again,

P.S. at home today it was -10 degrees C and snow (hee-hee) too bad for
Calgary!

Thanks for the great stay - first time in Hawaii. We really appreciated the beach
towels, beach chairs, cooler and fully stocked kitchen. Best snorkeling is right
across the road to right of Beach House - lots of fish. Great sunsets there too!
Lots of places to dine like keoki's - great atmosphere, service and food. Also liked
Brennecke's. The Plantation Garden - we had a wonderful dinner - we'd highly recommend.
Thanks

Mahalo!
Your condo was the perfect place to spend our honeymoon! It is the perfect location
to explore the entire island.
The Holo-Holo Charter Super Tour to the NaPali Coast and Ni'ihau was amazing. We saw
dolphins, sea turtles and snorkeled w/a monk seal. Sea kayaking w/Kauai Outfitters was
a enjoyable but an intense 8 miles of ppaddling. Dinner and sunsets across the street
at the Beach House were amazing! Snorkeling was also great all over the island.
The condo was a great place to come home to each night! We will definitely be back!

P.S. Try dinner at Pomodoro, amazing calamari and Lasagna!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Our time here was way too short but we had a fantastic experience. We have slept better
than we can remember in years. Our children slept on the pull-out and we all enjoyed
the cool breeze and wonderful sounds of the ocean.
The condo is well equipped and we appreciate the thought and time spent by you and previous
guests to make our stay a more comfortable experience. This was just what we needed on
our short but fun stay. We hope to be back to be able to take full advantage of all this
wonderful island has to offer.

Thanks jack, Dorinda and Mark and Gary for a wonderful place to stay and a great visit.
We loved our (your) condo #307 and really hope we can come back. We spent first 5 nights
of our trip at the Marriot on one of their sales pitch deals. But liked this much better.
It is cozy, homey, the gardens are beautiful and well cared for making us feel right at
home. We bought a fan on a stand which made the nights very comfortable. We loaned it to
the guests in 217 and asked them to return it to 307 for future guests - us included -
we hope. The condo was clean, more than well-equipped and we do not feel updating it at
all is needed!
Things we loved: The roosters (and their crowing); snorkeling - the best across the street
next to Beach House Broiler; Sunsets - same place; exploring entire island; catamaran tour
and Catamaran Kauai (fewer people, personal touch, great meal, great guide, close in to
shore snorkeling & fish & turtles) - worth putting up with the rather stern captain. Guide
and captains wife more than made up for him; a WONDERFUL dinner at Gaylords and a great
breakfast buffet, and horse drawn carriage ride there; shopping at trading posts, Coconut
Market and great 40% sale at Hilo Hattie; learning all about the garden plants from Gary.
He is very pleasant and a great addition to your staff; Poipu Beach; Farmer's Market; cool
breezes.
We are celebrating our 41st anniversary and recovering from caring for a parent in her final
illness and death for the last year and a half and our stay was perfect! We definitely
want to come back and to stay here.
We liked this part of the island much more than our north explorations and even the huge
canyon - it was foggy.
Oh - also - must have: Shave ice at Jo Jo's in Waimea and Lappert ice cream! The only thing
we do not like is all the new construction. Hopefully, it will not ruin the relaxed, small
town atmosphere which we love!
Mahalo - this is the best

A great big Thank You, oops - MAHALO - to Steve and Adrienne (who left on the day we arrived)
for leaving all the food in the refer for us! We didn't have much to eat for breakfast but
because of what they left, we ate well. Went to Waimea Canyon and although was hazy, got some
good pictures. Went toKalalau Lookout but couldn't see a thing! All covered with clouds :-(
Beautiful weather the rest of the time!

March 13 - April 3, 2008
We began our vacation with quite an adventure - with all of the construction of the new road -
about, confusing signs and detour signs - plus a black night arrival - we needed a GPS
(unfortunately, did not have one!). We drove around until we finally figured it out! The
roundabout is about complete and it will sure simplify things!
We explored Kauai from "stem to stern" - except for the Napali Coast - winds were really
strong - Rene with a motion problem could not contemplate the big waves, so we stayed
on land.
I did the "Birds in Paradise" tour and it was great. It was marginal (turbulence and
wind-wise) but I have seen worse in my flying days - so not a problem for me!
We enjoyed the beaches (my wife liked Lydgate especially) and I snorkelled Lawai Beach.
Few hundred feet away every day! It was very good snorkeling (although snorkeling a
remote Fijian reef in 1972 certainly spoils one!).
We hope to return!

Your condo is the perfect location to explore the island. From one end of the
island to the other, we enjoyed the people, the food and the many shops. By land,
sea, and air - it's all beautiful! So much so, we are planning our next vacation
and will be returning back to Kauai!

Thank you Jack, Dorinda and Mark
My husband and I enjoyed staying here. We especially appreciated the Kauai books.
We dined on breadfruit, banana flowers, ahi tuna, fresh beans, akule, papaya, etc.
We liked the Beach House (pricey though!) and the Smith's Family Luau.
I saw a huge green turtle while snorkeling across the street.
Hiking the Kalalau Trail was invigorating but we ran out ofwater too soon!
Spouting Horn down the road is cool and also that remote beach in Poipu that
is accessible via dirt road (we rented bicycles to get there).
And of course the fried (not baked) apple pies at McDonald's !!! I am so glad they still
fry them here :-)

Jack, Dorinda & Mark -
Thank you for your special touches. The welcome notes when we first checked out
the place online, the well-stocked kitchen, the big comfy towels and beach towels,
too and the books and all the other little things that made this place feel like
home right away. We'll be back!!

More than we ever expected!! The condo was just right for us but we have to admit
we barely spent any time here. Up in the morning w/coffee, fresh fruit and cereal
on the lanai, then off for a morning snorkel. After that we'd head off to something
new each day. The local snorkeling was excellent! First time for both of us. So
fun and so beautiful - Poipu, Beach House, Ke'e - all good. Hiked up in Waimea,
incredible views of the NaPali Coast - wow!
Checked out Mahulepu Beach and the lithified cliffs - will definitely bring a picnic
lunch next time. What a cool setting. Waimea Falls worth the visit - a postcard
waiting for you to take it. Visited the Allerton Gardens - if you like gardens
this is one to see - nothing like it anywhere else. And so much more...
favorite restaurant: Hanalei Dolphin
favorite roads: Waimea Canyon, North hwy to kee
favorite beach: Polihale - saw whales!!!
favorite snorkeling spot: Kee and Poipu - to the right
favorite treat: Lapperts - fo for the choc fudge macadamia into the big cone - yum!
favorite maitai - Keoke's - goofy setting but fun :-)
favorite dogs: Puka dogs - messy but good. make sure you get the lemonade
favorite restaurant view: Beach House (if you don't have reservations, check out the
bar. Both nights we tried we had seats looking out ovr the view in time for those
gorgeous sunsets!) Food is really good but pricey - you can order off the full menu in the
bar.
favorite beer: Waimea Brewery - Try the on w/Passion Fruit - not sweet
Dukea The Aus - Nice and Happy

As I write this, the sun is rising, viewed from the terrific vantage point of
the lanai. We have had a tremendous time here in Kauai. While we have had
many grand adventures here, it is the surprise of the simple pleasures that comes
to mind for this guest book entry. Pleasures like coffee here in the condo watching
the sun rise, like beach chairs easily toted across the street for beaching, like
local foods shared with warm people who don't seem to mind two tourists showing up.
We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the condo and forever Kauai.

This was our 3rd visit to Kauai. We have never been to any other island and
we will only come to this, most beautiful, relaxing, peaceful place. We love
staying in this area, 2nd year! First was in Kapaa. We love these condos,
were very happy with this unit, all that we needed and more was here, alot
larger than the east studio we stayed in. So was surprised and happy. Will want
to stay here again when we return in 2009.
We made some new discoveries (use the Ultimate Kauai book, we have 5th need
to get 6th edition. This book is the best to get around Kauai.)
Directions are right on!
Best snorkeling the beach right across the street. Best beach to see whales
and Monk Seals the same.
To the west, all the way to the end. Polihale - rough to get there. It will
take your breath away. Can't swim in the winter but you have to see it.
Glass beach - not a pretty beach at all but the glass on beach is amazing!
And the view from the end of the road is great.
Have coffee in Waimea a small local shop. Best there is. Shaved ice at Jo Jo's on
side street South Shore. Mahaulepu Beach is great just folow directions from
book do not turn back if you think its too far, just keep going.
North Shore, Larsens Beach, its pass a cattle field and a hile down but wait
till you see it. Go to the lighthouse, view is great.
Hanalei Bay is really cool to see all the locals and surfers. The town is
cool also. The drive up to the North Shore is beautiful go all the way to the
end. Ke'e beach its all so amazing. God sure knows what he was doing. :-)
Make sure you visit the Savage Shrimp Van at the end of street. She is there
Mon - Sat till 3:00 - best shrimp meal ever.
Beach House. Tidepools at Hyatt. We also visited local spot Hamuia Samin Stand down
town on Rice St. It was great and cool to sit at counter and eat with the reall
locals. Great pie.
Hula girl
Bubba Burgers
Keoki Paradise
Bakegoods at Health Food store in Koloa Town.
Tomcats, Lapperts Ice Cream. **Beggus ice cream (Kapaa)
Best Sunset - beach right out front!
Jack, Dorinda, Mark - great place! This island is a blessing. Respect the people here and their home.
Mahalo,
God Bless,

My boyfriend and I came here after one cancelled trip last year and had a
wonderful time. The condo served our needs very well, mainly a place to
sleep and shower. Our first few days were rough as we were getting over a
cold but after a few days in the sun all is well. You may see people walking
around with the blue "Kauai Revealed" book (we did) and it never let us
down! If anyone is going to Polihale beach, rent a 4WD, our Seabring barely
made it. Instead of flying aroound in a helicopter (it was too expensive),
we flew in a cessna with Tropical Biplanes. So much more personal, private
and great views. We had our one romantic dinner out at Casa Blanca at the
Kiahuna Swim & Tennis Club, AMAZING! It is a bit pricy, but service great
and wide happy-hour menu. Instead of going to a super-market for supplies
(non-food), go to Whaler's Cove Supply Store, much cheaper from our point of
view. We cooked a few means here and that turned out fine. We hope to come
back!
