Prince Kuhio #315 Guest Book - Year 2011

Nov 19 - Dec 1, 2011

As in our first trip here, we had a wonderful time and leave refreshed and rested to go back to "real life"! The hospitality here is wonderful and we loved it. Hope to be back.

Thanks to all of you,
Ron & Lynne

Nov 12 arrival / Nov. 19 depart

This was our first trip to Kauai and loved it here. It is very laid back. We had gotten all around this island by rental jeep and stopped many places. The high point of our visit was a helicopter ride over the entire island. We used Sunshine Helicopters and were very pleased with the trip. The weather was great while we were here and loved our visit.

Thank you for your wonderful condo also Jack & Dorinda!

Nov 5-12, 2011

This has been our first trip to Hawaii. What a perfect island to start with! We have loved the quietness of Kauai as well as the beauty. The condo met our needs perfectly. We felt very at home! We did a lot of fun activities like NaPali Coast tour on a Zodiac - crazy fun! And Kayaking and hiking to the Hidden Falls - beautiful!
Can't wait to come back!

Oct 31 - Nov 3, 2011

We finished off our nine day Kauai trip here at Prince Kuhio resort, we had been at the Marriott in Lihue. That was beautiful but we enjoyed the condo more. We were able to make a wonderful dinner for our friends that were staying in Kapaa. We tried to copy our dinner from the Beach House (Please try to go there, you will not be disappointed). The sunsets were the on the lawn in front of the Beach House. Our waiter recommended getting fresh fish at the fish market in Koloa. The fish was great. If you want to try scuba for the first time (resort dive), we recommend Seasport. The dive master was wonderful. (James) We are hooked and will get certified at home. Enjoyed the trip and hope to come back.

We have had a great time here! Even got used to the roosters waking us up! We have seen and done many things on our trip but overall, the best part is relaxing together!

Sept 28 - Oct 6

What a breathtaking place this is. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Here are a few notes based on our experiences that might be helpful.

  • Despite how great the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook makes it sound, we do not recommend the "Secret Tunnel Hike". Google it if you are in doubt.
  • Spouting Horn is beautiful at Sunrise / Sunset.
  • Best snorkeling is at Tunnels on North Shore. Stop at Tropical Tacos on the way there or back (yum!). We tried snorkeling at other places but Tunnels was awesome.
  • We highly recommend Inter-Island Helicopters out of Hanepepi (Pt. Allen Airport). It was an incredible way to see the island and our pilot, Chase, was very knowledgable.
  • Waimea Canyon - a must see.
  • The Lighthouse was cool but not necessarily something we'd do again.
  • We were married on Oct 1 at Shipwreck Beach so obviously we're going to go back there someday.
  • If you're not afraid of violating your rental car (do it! do it! :) ) contract, there is a great beach past the Hyatt along a very bumpy road. It's worth the drive. Not great for Snorkeling (at least when we were here), but really beautiful.
You'll have a great time no matter what you do - you're in Kauai after all!

P.S. Tortilla Republic & Tidepools are great restaurants! Believe it or not, Da Crack was good for a quick meal.

9/25 - 28

We Love Kauai!!!! We got married on the 23rd in Hanali Bay (stayed on North Shore from 9/19 - 9/25) and honeymooned here on the South Shore.
Highlights:

  1. Getting married :)
  2. 1st 2 mile hike of Kalalau Trail (NaPali Coast) - unbelievable views
  3. Sunsets at Hanalei Bay and at Beach House.
  4. Tunnels, Hanalei Bay, and Poipu Beaches
  5. Captain Sundown Na Pali Sail - not far from Hanlaei - be sure to take dramamine. My husband loved it. I did too until I got sea sick.
  6. Best Meals - Beach House, Plantation Gardens, Kauai Grill, and St. Regis, Puka Bog
  7. Kilauea Lighthouse!! Amazing views.
We brought Foder's Lonely Planet guidebooks and they were really helpful. Ultimate Kauai (in this condo) came the most recommended though. Enjoy your trip!!! We can't wait to come back.

Great Time!! Only rained 2 x and briefly - nothing like Seattle!
Met our son and daughter-in-law here. They took us to all the great beaches and canyon. They have been coming to Kauai for 6 years. Very nice accommodations. We will probably be back.

Honeymoon

We loved our stay here on the South Shore. The condo was outstanding and really made our honeymoon that much more enjoyable. I don't think I could imagine coming back and having to stay anywhere else! We did a lot while we were here so I will highlight our trip if you are looking for ideas.

  • Snorkeling: Poipu Beach & Tunnels Beach - both excellent swims, many fish and great woter
  • Ocean Rafting: (Captn Andy's) Napali Tour & snorkeling. Snorkeling was OK but the rafting was awesome! We were able to get into the shoreline caves that bigger boats can't access. Saw spinner dolphins (wifes fan) & great views. Go in the morning! They say the sea can be crazy in the afternoon.
  • Horseback riding at Solverfalls Ranch!
  • Waimea Canyon - awesome views - must see. Take the drive past and can see the NaPali Coast.
  • Kayak the Wailua River. Takes 4 hours but it takes you to Secret Falls waterfall. Bring a camera.
  • North Shore - Tunnels Beach, Queens Bath, Great shopping, we went twice. Thanks for everything. We couldn't ask for more!

    Aloha! Akahai

We have enjoyed our stay in #315 on Kauai so much. Our pleasures were simple - water, swimming, snorkeling and tasting the island cuisine and relaxing before we rejoin our busy lives on the mainland. Regret leaving now! The Beach house experience was awesome! Showed up at 6:15 for just appetizers and tropical drinks and got the best table there! on the corner outside watching the surfers and had yummy ono too! Sunsets are exquisit. We will be back!!!

We had a wonderful stay in your wonderful condo high up in the canopy. I especially liked hearing the sounds of the birds outside singing their song. Would like to put the rooster on Japan time though. :)
I know we will be back again!

    Jan 20 - Feb 1, 2011

Kauai for the 1st time as well as PK #315 and our hats off to both. We enjoyed everything and left much to discover next time. Condo great! Weather was amazing and the frogs up the street were adorable. Highlights -
Beach House Restaurant across the street
Drive up the North Shore and see the spectacular beaches
Take boat cruse up the Wa Pali Coast.
Best caesar salad Hyatt Terrace Rest.
Best Pizza - go East to Brick Oven Pizza.
Best Shopping - Walmart for it's prices.
We will be back next year for another amazing adventure.

    January 8-17, 2011 (1/11/11 our anniversary)

First time in Kauai and first time in someone else's condo! The coffee maker is wonderful! We left some filters and 1/4 can of coffee on the table w/a tupperware of sugar! Can't help you with the milk but if you get in the middle of the morning like we did you will appreciate it! We made fresh ice today (1/17/2011).
Everything works great! We left some new toilet paper in each bath and treated this place lit it was ours! We washed the print sheets and put them in the closet. We slept on the brown sheets so you are definitely going to want to change them if housekeeping screws up! LOL
The bed is old but comfy! The view from the porch is wonderful but keep the slider closed at night. Mosquitos and rain will ruin your stay if you don"t! There are coolers, matts, bug spray, umbrella, and water shoes in the L/R closet. Take them to the beach. We loved this place and plan on coming back!

    Jan 5 / 11

Loved the condo - found it had absolutely everything we might want or need! The grounds are beautiful - pool very nice, clean and well-kept.
We enjoyed the restaurants - Beach House was great! Staying in the condo and grilling was so convenient also. Snorkeling was good at Ke'e, Poipu Beaches, but found Lawai - just across the street was the best!
The tour of the Botanical Gardens was very interesting and entertaining - worth the ticket price. Just bring adequate bug spray. Hope to be back!
